Myanmar attends 20th Asia Media Summit in Cambodia

DEPUTY Minister for Information U
Ye Tint attended the Pre-workshop of 20th Asia Media Summit “ Youth Digital
Empowerment Workshop and Girls in ICT Day Cambodia 2025” held at Sokha Siem
Reap Resort and Convention Centre in Cambodia on 21 July.
It was also attended by Cambodian
Information Minister Mr Neth Pheaketra, governmental officials of Siem
Province, Deputy Information Ministers and senior officials from Asia-Pacific
and ASEAN countries, representatives of Asia Institute for Broadcasting
Development (AIBD), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), ASEAN
Secretary-General Office, media sectors and university students of Cambodia.
The Pre-workshop was held in
different sections under the topics of “Transforming Media Content Creation
Through AI-Powered Tools Technologies”, “Role of Broadcasting in Effective
Early Warning System”, “The Role of Information Diplomacy in Dispelling
Disinformation”, and “Technology Driving Accessibility for the Future Broadcast
and Media”. Myanmar delegates joined the sections.
On 22 July morning, Deputy
Minister U Ye Tint led the Myanmar delegation and attended the 20th Asia Media
Summit opening ceremony at the Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Centre.
After the opening ceremony, the deputy
minister met the Cambodian Information Minister and gave commemorative gifts.
At noon, the deputy minister and
delegates attended the discussion held under the themes of Disinformation: The
Role of Media & the Government, Enabling Accessibility in Broadcasting,
Inspiring Voices from Across the World and Information as a Public Good:
Upholding Credibility and Empowering Democracy.
They joined the AIBD Gala Dinner
& Awarding Ceremony 2025 on the same evening, and Director Daw Moe Thu Zar
Aung received the Sustainability & Green Technology Award of E-Waste
Solutions of AIDB for “Turning Trash into Better Tomorrow” Programme produced
by MRTV.
The deputy minister and U Kyaw
Soe Min, Myanmar Ambassador to Cambodia, met the Cambodian Information Minister
yesterday.
They discussed enhancement of
bilateral relationship and sector-wise cooperation, further cooperation in
combating misinformation and challenges in media sectors of the two countries
and signing of MoU on media cooperation that was agreed by the two countries.
They exchanged gifts after the meeting.
The deputy minister and delegates
attended the other workshops. The Ministry of Information of Cambodia and AIBD
jointly organized the 20th Asia Media Summit 2025 under the theme “Celebrating
Two Decades of Excellence & Beyond”, bringing together over 400
participants from Asia-Pacific and ASEAN countries, media leaders and students.
