Myanmar yesterday joins 11th St Petersburg International Forum of Cultures
THE Myanmar delegation, led by Deputy
Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan, attended the 11th St Petersburg
International Forum of United Cultures held on 10-13 September in Russia.
The forum themed "Return to
Culture, New Opportunities" was attended by ministers and deputy ministers
of culture from world countries, members of international organizations,
artistes and observers.
On 10 September, the deputy minister-led
delegation visited Saint ISACC’s Cathedral and Kazansky Cathedral in St Petersburg.
They also observed the Hermitage
Museum, which is one of the world's largest museums, and the museum officials
clarified the structure of the museum.
On 11 September, the deputy minister
attended the cultural ministers' and deputy ministers' meeting at the Russian
Museum of Marble Palace.
Speaking at the meeting, she said
Myanmar is a concentration of traditions for having living heritages of all
ethnic people of today and the Pyu and Bagan eras. Cultural exchange is not
only sharing arts and customary law but also discussion among hearts. The
country is also ready to work with other countries to protect the valuable,
respect and hand over the cultural heritages to the new generations. The collective
efforts serve as a guiding star for cultural unity, mutual respect, and peace
across the entire world.
On 12 September, the delegation attended
the final session led by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at the
Hermitage General Staff Building. Russian Culture Minister Mrs Olg Liubimova
made an opening speech, and the attendees discussed different topics.
The delegates observed around the booths
at the General Staff Building, and they attended the Plenary Session at
Catherine Palace in Pushkin and a speech-delivering session of Russian
President Putin in the same evening. On 13 September, they attended the
Hermitage Prize awarding ceremony at the Winter Palace. — MNA/KTZH
