Authorities continue dismantling illegal structures in KK Park
THE
Government of Myanmar, through joint squads comprising security personnel,
administrative bodies, and local authorities, is continuing operations in Shwe
Kokko and KK Park areas, where most of the telecom fraud and online gambling
activities are based. These operations involve raiding illegal buildings,
confiscating items used in telecom fraud and online gambling activities, and
systematically demolishing illegally-built structures.
In
doing so, those authorities are systematically dismantling the buildings used
in telecom fraud and online gambling in the Myawady-Mawthawtalay (KK Park)
area in three sections. Yesterday, they demolished three more illegal buildings
in the Section 3 area. So far, they have destroyed 122 buildings out of 425
illegal structures in the Section 3 area, and they have dismantled 270
buildings out of 635 illegal structures in the KK Park area in total.
Likewise,
a similar operation is being conducted in the Shwe Kokko area, starting from
18 November. Yesterday, the authorities searched illegally residential
buildings, warehouses, shops and hotels, including one two-storey building,
one four-storey building, 15 five-storey buildings, three six-storey
buildings, four seven-storey buildings and two eight-storey buildings,
totalling 26 in the Shwe Kokko area. Any individuals involved in telecom fraud
and online gambling were not found there. Those individuals took away their mobile
phones and their equipment.
As
the authorities started their inspection at the structures used in the telecom
fraud and online gambling activities in the Shwe Kokko area on 18 November,
they found 135 illegal structures. Hence, the authorities sealed 35 three-storey
buildings, one seven-storey building, and one thirteen-storey building,
totalling 37 not to be reused in criminal activities. In total, 101 buildings
have now been sealed.
According
to the operation conducted in the Shwe Kokko area, the authorities have so far
arrested 2,042 foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally and seized
3,310 computers, 21,870 mobile phones, 102 Starlink satellite receivers, 22
routers and a large quantity of industrial materials used in telecom fraud and
online gambling activities. These materials were destroyed systematically, and
the authorities plan to continue the operation.
The
detained foreign nationals are being kept at the building in Lonhtin compound
of Shwe Kokko Myaing Village, Pulwepu Village-tract in Myawady Township. So,
departmental teams are collecting the personal data and records of the foreign
nationals to repatriate them to their respective countries as quickly as
possible.
During
the period from 30 January to 29 November 2025, a total of 12,915 foreign
nationals who illegally entered Myanmar were detained. Of them, 10,029 foreign
nationals were systematically transferred to their respective countries via
Thailand under the law. Currently, it is ready to repatriate the remaining
2,886 foreign nationals to their respective countries, and they are under
systematic care.
The
Government of Myanmar has taken the fight against telecom fraud and online gambling
as a national responsibility and will continue operations to prevent such
activities from establishing a foothold in the country, coordinating not only
with domestic security forces but also with neighbouring governments. —
