Tabu Hla Dam benefits summer paddy fields

Tabu Hla Dam in the town of Okkan, Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region is distributing irrigation water to summer paddy fields through two main cannals and branch cannals, according to an official from the Township Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management.
Tabu Hla Dam is located on Okkan Creek which is north of Konepawsu village, 19 miles away from the northeast of the town of Okkan. It is an earthen dam type which is 1,305 ft in length, 95 ft in height and its storage capacity is 194,600 acres and its surface area is 7,800 acres.
In addition, necessary arrangements are being made to supply water for timely cultivation without wasting. The dam started distribution of irrigation water on 1 January with a target of cultivating 29,949 acres of summer paddy during 2025-2026 FY. This year a total of 29,954 acres of summer paddy have been cultivated.
