Winter sesame harvested in Kyunhla Township, yielding over 230,000 baskets

Kyunhla Township in Kantbalu District, Sagaing Region cultivates seasoanl oilseed crops. This year, all acres of sesame planted in winter season have been successfully harvested, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
“In the township, the target was to cultivate 14,033 acres of sesame in winter; however, 14,037 acres of sesame were actually cultivated. Now, all acres have been harvested, with a yield of 16.42 baskets per acre. The department is providing assistance to cultivate systematically and agricultural awareness,” according to an official from the Township Department of Agriculture.
In the township, a total of 35,280 acres of oilseed crops were cultivated, including 14,245 acres of peanuts, 14,037 acres of sesame, 1,231 acres of sunflower, 5,315 acres of niger seed and 452 acres of mustard, according to the Township Department.
