Domestic diesel supplied directly to farmers in Nay Pyi Taw at special rate

THE Ministry of Electricity and Energy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Nay Pyi Taw Council, is directly distributing domestically produced diesel at a special price to farmers at their worksites in Nay Pyi Taw.

At present, the programme aims to ease fuel shortages and ensure affordable access for farmers. Diesel is being sold at K10,000 per gallon on a cash-on-delivery basis to villages that still require fuel for ploughing and the cultivation of summer paddy and oil crops in the 2025-2026 financial year.

The distribution began on 18 April and is being carried out across townships in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. The authorities plan to expand the programme to other regions and states in coordination with the respective governments. — ASH/KZL
