Indian Embassy offers Waso robes
TO commemorate the Second Full Moon Day of Waso (Dhammacakka Day), a sacred day for the Buddha’s first sermon, the Embassy of India in Yangon held a Waso robe-offering ceremony at the India Centre on Merchant Road, Yangon, at 4 pm on 29 July.
At the ceremony, officials from the Indian Embassy offered Waso robes and other offertories to venerable monks led by the Mawkyun Sayadaw, Bhaddanta Silakkhandhabhivamsa (Golden Jubilee Tipiṭakadhara Dhammabhaṇḍāgārika, Tipitaka Pāḷi Pāragū).
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors and diplomatic mission members from Nepal and Sri Lanka, the Chairman of the All-Myanmar Hindu Central Council, heads and officials from the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, Sitagu International Buddhist Academy, and the Rakhine Literature and Culture Association, as well as members of the Board of Trustees of the Sule Pagoda and Botahtaung Pagoda.
Following this, an exhibition on historical Buddhist sites in India was opened and viewed by officials and attendees. — MT/ZN
