K1.5 Billion Worth of Drugs Seized in Lewe Township

Five suspects—Kyaw Win, Min Min Han, Aung Ko Ko, Aye Kyaing and Than Zaw—have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law, according to the Myanmar Police Force (MPF).

Acting on a tip-off, a joint anti-narcotics team stopped and searched a TOYOTA IPSUM vehicle driven by Kyaw Win of Kanyo Village in Taungoo Township near Kyakan Village in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. He was accompanied by Min Min Han of Ward 19, Taungoo; Aung Ko Ko of Khapaung Village, Taungoo Township; Aye Kyaing of Ward 6, Yedashi; and Than Zaw of Hin Khuk Aik Village.

During the search, the authorities seized one million stimulant tablets. Based on the local market price of K1,500 per tablet, the drugs were estimated to be worth K1.5 billion.

The five suspects have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law. — MPF
