Pwintbyu yields 3,338 acres of monsoon crops

            A total of 3,338 acres of monsoon crops have been yield in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.

            With the aims of ensuring local food security and boosting agricultural production, the department allocated 137,987 acres for the cultivation of various crops during monsoon season, including paddy, sesame, peanut, sunflower, mung bean, vegetables and others. Currently, a total of 91,229 acres of crops have been cultivated and harvesting began in the first week of July. So far, 3,338 acres of monsoon crops have been successfully harvested. In the township, 3180 acres of mung bean and 58 acres of banana have been harvested, yielding 19.13 baskets per acre for mung bean and 1430 bunches per acre for banana.

            The township department of agriculture is focusing on enhancing the high-yield crop production, expanding cultivation year by year, ensuring sufficient supply for local consumption and generating additional income through the sale of surplus agricultural products.
