School Temporarily Closed Due to Heavy Rain and Rising River Levels in Taikkyi Township
Taikkyi, July 30
Continuous heavy rainfall and rising water levels of the Irrawaddy River have caused approximately 1.5 feet of water to enter the compound of the Basic Education Primary School in Thae Yoe Village, Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region. As a result, the school has been temporarily closed from July 30 to ensure the safety of teachers and students, according to the Township Education Office.
The Township Education Office stated that the Thae Yoe Basic Education Primary School will reopen and resume classes once the water level of the Ayeyarwady River recedes, in order to minimize disruption to students’ learning.—Wut Yee (IPRD)
