17 Schools Temporarily Closed Due to Flooding in Myan Aung Township Reopen

Myan Aung, August 20

The 17 basic education schools in Myan Aung Township, Ayeyarwady Region, that were temporarily closed due to flooding have reopened since the morning of August 20, as the water level of the Ayeyarwady River in the township has receded below the danger level of 67 feet, according to the Township Education Office.

Village-tract administrators, teachers, health workers and local residents have joined forces to reopen the schools that were temporarily closed due to flooding. Local authorities have carried out cleaning operations, provided clean drinking water and conducted school health activities both inside and outside the school compounds.

The schools have now resumed classes, with students back in their classrooms attending lessons.—Win Bo (IPRD)
