79 Schools Temporarily Closed Due to Irrawaddy River Flooding in Moe Nyo Township

A total of 79 basic education schools in low-lying villages in Moe Nyo Township, Tharyarwady District, Bago Region, have been temporarily closed after rising water levels in the Irrawaddy River inundated school premises.
The affected schools comprise 45 primary schools, 26 middle schools and eight high schools across 29 village tracts and 76 villages. The schools will remain temporarily closed until the river level recedes, in order to ensure the safety of teachers and students.
According to the Township Education Office, students from the affected schools will receive classes on alternate days after the schools reopen to help prevent significant disruption to their studies.—Ko Min (IPRD)
