Pwintbyu Township to Plant 15,879 Acres of Sunflowers in Winter Crop Season
Pwintbyu, August 18
Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region plans to plant 15,879 acres of sunflowers during the upcoming winter crop season, with planting scheduled to begin in October, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
The department will provide farmers with training on improved cultivation practices, including Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) methods, quality varieties, pest and disease prevention, and measures to boost yields and meet the planting target.
Officials said expanding sunflower cultivation and increasing yields could help meet local edible oil demand, raise farmers’ incomes and contribute to local socio-economic development.—Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
