Foreign Tourists Document Myanmar’s Rural Life in Ancient Bagan

Twelve Thai and Malaysian tourist photographers are documenting Myanmar’s rural life at the ancient cultural site of Bagan in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region.

This morning, they took documentary photographs around Pho Mauk Gyi Hill, south of Sulamani Pagoda. Against the backdrop of Bagan’s beautiful scenery, the photographs captured traditional rural farming activities, including threshing harvested rice, transporting straw using cattle, and stacking straw after the harvest and threshing.

The photographers are taking documentary photographs in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the Bagan Branch of the Department of Archaeology and National Museums. They have photographed areas around Sulamani Pagoda, Myinkaba Village and Pyathadagyi Temple, and will continue taking photographs in and around Minnanthu Village and West Bwa Saw Village.—Dipalin
