Four basic schools in Gyobingauk Township temporarily closed

Gyobingauk 17 August

Due to the torrential downpours and the rising water level of the Myitmakha River on the western side of Gyobingauk Township, Thayarwaddy District, Bago Region, four basic education schools have been temporarily closed as of 17 August, according to the office of the Township Education Officer.

The schools were temporarily closed to ensure the safety of 80 students. As a result, students are facing difficulties in their studies. However, once the water level declines, the missed school days will be compensated for by holding classes on Sabbath Days and Sundays, which are regular holidays.

Two of the basic education schools were temporarily closed on 14 August while the others were closed on 16 and 17 August, according to the office of the Township Education Officer.
