Myanmar releases preliminary 33-player squad for 20th Asian Games
THE Myanmar women’s national football team head coach Colin Bell has announced a preliminary 33-player squad for the women’s football tournament at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), to be held in Nagoya, Japan.
Myanmar has been drawn in Group F alongside South Korea, North Korea and Bangladesh. Group matches will be played at Nagai Stadium in Osaka.
The 12 participating teams will be divided into three groups. The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarterfinals.
The selected players will begin a training camp at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon on 17 August. Players from Ayeyawady FC, who are competing in the AFC Women’s Champions League, along with five players currently on loan to the club, will join the full squad on 24 August.
Ayeyawady FC defender Nan Phyu Phway and Thitsa Arman midfielder Khin Mo Mo Tun have been left out of the preliminary squad due to injuries.
The Myanmar women’s team will continue preparations for the Asian Games, focusing on their group-stage matches against Asian powerhouses South Korea and North Korea. — TWA/KZL
