Ngape Township Harvests 1,447 Acres of Summer Sesame

Farmers in Ngape
Township, Magway Region, have completed the harvest of 1,447 acres of summer
sesame planted during the summer cropping season to support local edible oil
self-sufficiency, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
The harvested area
produced a total of 10,737 baskets of sesame. The cultivated area included 407
acres of small fennel sesame, 50 acres of Sin Yadana-3, 690 acres of black
sesame, and 300 acres of Sin Yadana-12, with black sesame and small fennel
sesame accounting for the largest share.
Harvesting began in
July and has now been completed across all planted areas.
Agriculture officials
and field staff worked closely with farmers to promote the use of quality seed
varieties, proper crop management practices, and systematic harvesting to
minimize post-harvest losses and support higher yields and marketability.—Ma Yu
