School Closed Due to Flooding of Daka River in Kyaunggon Township

Kyaunggon, August 12

Two wards, two villages and one school in Kyaunggon Township, Ayeyarwady Region, have been inundated since August 11 due to flooding from the Daka River.

A total of 30 people from 10 households in Makyi Pyin Kwin Village and 25 people from eight households in Ward No. 3 have been relocated to Myo Pauk Sein Monastery. Meanwhile, seven households comprising 24 people from Thit Sein Kone Village have been relocated to the homes of relatives, while 47 households with a total population of 164 from Ward No. 1 have been relocated to Kan Baung.

The Zayat Kwin Village tract, Supadaung Kwin Village rural road and West Kywelan Village rural road have also been inundated.

The Basic Education Primary School (B.E.P.S.) in Thae Kone Village tract has been temporarily closed since August 11 due to the flooding.—Win Kyaing(IPRD)
