Semifinal matches of 2026 Inter- State/Region Traditional Lethwei Championship held

THE 2026 Inter-Region and State Traditional Lethwei Championship, jointly or­ganized by the Ministry of Sports, the Department of Sports and Physical Edu­cation, the Yangon Region government and the My­anmar Lethwei Federa­tion, are being held at the Theinbyu Traditional Box­ing Gymnasium in Minga­la Taungnyunt Township, Yangon Region, to produce new generations of tradi­tional boxing athletes and further promote the stand­ard of Myanmar sports.

Yesterday, the semifi­nal matches featured the men’s 63.5-kilogramme novice class, men’s 67-kilo­gramme novice class, men’s 51-kilogramme Class C, men’s 54-kilogramme Class C, men’s 67-kilo­gramme Class C, women’s 51-kilogramme and wom­en’s 57-kilogramme events.

In the men’s 63.5-kilo­gramme novice class, Kau­ng Khant Zaw (Red) of the Mandalay Region team defeated Min Khant Zaw (Blue) of the Yangon Re­gion team, while Lwin Ko Ko Htet (Blue) of the Bago Region team defeated Sa Ye Myint Aye (Red) of the Mon State team.

In the men’s 67-kilo­gramme novice class, Aung Kaung Myat (Red) of the Bago Region team defeated Saw Thein Zaw Myint (Blue) of the Mon State team, while Saw Aung Chit Kyi (Blue) of the Kayin State team defeated Htet Paing Soe (Red) of the Taninthayi Region team.

In the men’s 51-kilo­gramme Class C event, Han Htoo Zaw (Red) of the Nay Pyi Taw Union Ter­ritory team defeated Soe Moe Lwin (Blue) of the Ayeyawady Region team, while Min Thit Sar (Blue) of the Kayin State team de­feated Kaung Khant Kyaw (Red) of the Bago Region team.

In the men’s 54-kilo­gramme Class C event, Aung Kyaw Kyaw (Red) of the Yangon Region team defeated Pyae Sone Phyo (Blue) of the Mon State team, while Saw Pa Saw Phaw (Blue) of the Kayin State team defeated Arnt Htoo Khant (Red) of the Mandalay Region team.

In the men’s 67-kilo­gramme Class C event, Nyo Naing Win (Red) of the Yangon Region team defeated Nanda (Blue) of the Mandalay Region team, while Aung Than Zaw My­int (Blue) of the Kayin State team defeated Hein Htet (Red) of the Sagaing Re­gion team.

In the women’s 51-kilo­gramme event, Ya Wai Hlaing (Blue) of the Bago Region team defeated Nan Khin Hnin Htet (Red) of the Kayin State team, while Thet Htar Bo (Red) of the Mandalay Region team defeated Naw Pwint Chaw Su (Blue) of the Mon State team. In the women’s 57 kg event, Nan Thinzar Moe (Blue) of the Kayin State team defeated Nan Myint Myint Aye (Red) of the Mon State team, while Khin San­da Aung (Blue) of the Shan State team defeated Paing Paing San (Red) of Kayah State.

The semifinal match­es will continue on 18 August with the men’s 51-kilogramme novice, 54-kilogramme novice, 57-kilogramme novice and 60-kilogramme nov­ice classes, as well as the men’s 57-kilogramme Class C, 60-kilogramme Class C and women’s 54-kilo­gramme events.
