Shwedaung Township Completes 52,163 Acres of Rain-fed Paddy for Fiscal Year 2026

Shwedaung Township in Bago Region has completed planting of 52,163 acres of rain-fed paddy for fiscal year 2026, in line with the slogan “Let’s Encourage Production for the Golden Harvest of the Nation,” to strengthen local food security and promote rice production.

Farmers planted the paddy under the supervision of the Township Agriculture and Livestock Supervision Committee, using drum seeders, rice planters and manual planting methods. The main varieties grown were Ye Sin Paw San-1, Ye Sin Paw San-2, Hmaw Bi-2 and Yadanar Toe.

The Township Agriculture Department conducted field demonstrations on planting techniques and provided quality seeds, fertilizer at affordable prices, natural fertilizer production methods, and practical training on pest control and improved farming practices.—Ko Ko Min (IPRD)
