Yangon Police ramp up crime prevention, public awareness campaigns



POLICE across Yangon Region have intensified crime prevention and public safety efforts in cooperation with traffic police and local admin­istrative bodies through public awareness cam­paigns, patrols and secu­rity inspections, accord­ing to official reports.

 

As part of the cam­paign, the chief of the Hmawby District Police Force and officers deliv­ered crime prevention awareness talks during the Ward and Village Administrators’ Capac­ity-Building Training 2/2026 at the Htantabin Township General Ad­ministration Depart­ment yesterday morn­ing.

 

Officers from the Hmawby Township Po­lice Station held a crime prevention awareness session at the Hteinhn­gapin Village Adminis­trator’s Office. Mean­while, the chief and officers of the Sangyoung Township Police Station visited homes to educate residents on crime pre­vention measures.

 

In Dala Township, traffic police officers conducted a public awareness campaign at the traffic lights near the Dala Bridge, en­couraging pedestrians to use designated zebra crossings when crossing roads.

 

The previous evening, a joint team led by the acting chief of the Dagon Myothit (North) Township Police Force conducted secu­rity patrols across the township. In addition, the chief of the Ahlon Township Police Force and a joint inspection team conducted over­night guest registration checks in the Saw Yan Paing (East) Ward along Waibargi Road as part of ongoing security meas­ures. — Aung Thu/ST
