900,000 Myanma pearls produced in 1st 5 months of FY 2026-2027



 


MYANMA Pearl Enter­prise stated that more than 900,000 pearls were produced between April and August of the 2026-2027 financial year.


Pearl cultivation is carried out across the marine area spanning Kawthoung, Myeik, and Kyunsu townships in Taninthayi Region. There are 13 pearl-culturing camps, including state-owned Pearl Island.


This FY, the enter­prise targets holding two international auctions and two domestic sales events.


Myanmar primarily produces the South Sea pearl. Each pearl farm is managed with a target of 100,000 pearls per produc­tion cycle. Private pearl cultivation companies are being expanded to increase output. — ASH/KK
