Amyotha Hluttaw resumes for third regular session

THE third regular session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw commenced on the first day at the Amyotha Hluttaw hall of the Hluttaw Complex in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

At the outset, five Defence Services Personnel Representatives for Amyotha Hluttaw took an affirmation and signed the document of affirmation in the presence of Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe.

The Speaker extended greetings to lawmakers, urging them to harmoniously carry out parliamentarian measures based on their experiences to achieve good results for the State and the people.

In the question-and-answer session, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing replied to questions raised by six Amyotha Hluttaw representatives.

He stated that the Department of Basic Education is prioritizing schools in need of teachers based on student enrolment numbers when filling teaching vacancies in basic education schools.

Arrangements are being made by the relevant township, district, and region/state education officers to fill vacancies locally with substitute teachers, ensuring that teaching and learning proceed successfully.

To construct the required 819-foot brick wall at Myeik BEHS No 9, work will be funded under the capital budget for the 2027- 2028 financial year. Paving the school’s entrance road will be carried out under the regular expenditure for the 2027-2028 FY, based on budget allocation and according to the region’s priority queue.

The construction of a three-story RCC building at Myeik BEHS No 2 will be carried out under the capital budget for the 2027- 2028 FY.

The Mya Nandar school building at Kin Village BEHS in Bilin Township will be demolished and rebuilt in an upcoming financial year in accordance with the budget allocation.

Permission will be sought in accordance with standard procedures to demolish six hazardous school buildings at Kalewa BEHS and BEMS No 1 (Branch), and the construction of new school buildings will proceed according to the region’s priority ranking, subject to budget availability.

Under the supervision of education officers at different levels, measures are being taken to prevent disruptions to basic education students’ teaching and learning activities, improve the quality of learning, and ensure systematic adherence to school discipline. Accordingly, school heads and teachers are issuing rules strictly prohibiting students from bringing and using mobile phones during school hours and implementing plans to ensure student compliance. Although mobile phone use during school hours can be effectively prohibited, even greater and more beneficial outcomes can be achieved if teachers, parents, and students work together to ensure that phones are used productively outside of school hours.

The Speaker stated that Ayeyawady Region Amyotha Hluttaw MPs U Yan Naing Win, U Aung Tin Myint, U Aung Kyaw Min and Daw Zin Pa Pa Oo handed over donations of Amyotha Hluttaw representatives, Defence Services Personnel Representatives and staff members for flood victims of Laymyethna Township to the Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister, and the Amyotha Hluttaw put it on record.

The Amyotha Hluttaw will continue its second-day session on 24 September. — MNA/TTA
