Bamboo expert to conduct online class





AN online class on bam­boo cultivation, regen­eration and commercial bamboo production will be conducted in Sep­tember, according to the Forest Resource Envi­ronment Development and Conservation Asso­ciation (FREDA).


Dr San Win, a bam­boo expert, will give lec­tures based on his expe­rience and research work acquired over 25 years.


It will provide oppor­tunities to learn practical lectures based on farms of 20 kinds of mature bamboo species estab­lished since 2003. Bam­boo ecological functions, soil selection, and step-by-step cultivation and regeneration methods will be covered. Reloca­tion techniques that do not affect bamboo plants, land preparation, ferti­lization, moisture main­tenance of dried leaves, pest and disease pre­vention and control, and growing techniques for bamboo windbreaks will be featured.


In addition, tech­niques for cutting, and producing value-added products, such as bam­boo charcoal and bamboo vinegar, as well as good techniques currently practised in China for bamboo sector develop­ment, will be shared.
