Bamboo expert to conduct online class
AN online class on bamboo cultivation, regeneration and commercial bamboo production will be conducted in September, according to the Forest Resource Environment Development and Conservation Association (FREDA).
Dr San Win, a bamboo expert, will give lectures based on his experience and research work acquired over 25 years.
It will provide opportunities to learn practical lectures based on farms of 20 kinds of mature bamboo species established since 2003. Bamboo ecological functions, soil selection, and step-by-step cultivation and regeneration methods will be covered. Relocation techniques that do not affect bamboo plants, land preparation, fertilization, moisture maintenance of dried leaves, pest and disease prevention and control, and growing techniques for bamboo windbreaks will be featured.
In addition, techniques for cutting, and producing value-added products, such as bamboo charcoal and bamboo vinegar, as well as good techniques currently practised in China for bamboo sector development, will be shared.
