Falam weaving and vocational training school prepares to resume

THE Weaving and Voca­tional Training School of the Small-Scale Industries Department in Cinmual Ward, Falam Township, is preparing to resume machine weaving, hand weaving and traditional jap weaving courses. Ap­plications are now being accepted for the hand weaving and traditional jap weaving courses.

Yesterday morning, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Reset­tlement Dr Thant Zaw Lwin, together with Chin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environ­mental Conservation U Win Zaw Oo and members of the Chin State Rehabili­tation and Reconstruction Committee, inspected the school. The instructor in charge reported on the training equipment and recruitment of trainees, and the deputy minister gave necessary instruc­tions.

The deputy minister and his party then in­spected the hand weav­ing school building, male and female trainee dor­mitories, the instructor’s house, and the renovation of the two-room staff quar­ters and principal’s house.

They also visited the Border Area Ethnic Youth Training School under the Department of Education and Training and inspected the renova­tion of the office building, principal’s house, storage room, trainee dormitories and dining hall, as well as the Township Education Officer’s Office and staff housing.

The deputy minis­ter instructed officials to ensure that the quality of materials and workman­ship met the required standards and that the renovation work was com­pleted on schedule.

He then presented donations from well-wish­ers for the renovation of Yanpyay-Manpyay Aung­tawmu Pagoda, founded by missionary Sayadaw Abhidhaja Agga maha Saddhammajotika U Ot­tamasara.

The pagoda was built on 22 March 1995. Its stu­pa robes are now faded, while the railings have been damaged. The two lion statues, stairs, Sayad­aw’s statue and entrance gate also need repainting. Donations are therefore being collected for the renovation.
