India's wholesale inflation rises to 9.92 pct in Aug.



India's wholesale price index rose marginally to 9.92 percent in August, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.

The index for all commodities stands at 110.8 in August, up from 110.0 in July.

According to the ministry, year-on-year inflation rates for primary articles, fuel and power, and manufactured products are 7.76 percent, 22.93 percent, and 8.37 percent, respectively.

Across groups, mineral oils (containing petroleum products), food articles, manufacture of food products, manufacture of basic metals, non-food articles, and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products have been major drivers of WPI inflation in August 2026, the ministry said.

The Food Index, which consists of food articles from primary articles group and manufacture of food products from the manufactured products group, recorded a year-on-year inflation of 7.05 percent in August, compared to 6.65 percent in July.
