Myanmar ready to work closely with regional and international partners

Vice-President U Nyo Saw deliv­ered an address at the plenary session of the 11^th Eastern Econom­ic Forum at the building on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal Univer­sity in Vladivostok, the Russian Federation, at 4 pm local standard time yesterday.

In his speech, the Vice-President said that the Eastern Economic Fo­rum enhances economic cooperation, investment, technological innovation and integration in the Asia-Pacific region, and the forum is important for seeking opportunities to strengthen partner re­lations and sustainable development.

He added that through the recent meet­ing between President of the Russian Federation Mr Vladimir Putin and President of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, efforts are being made to further implement mutual trust, friendship and coopera­tion to achieve success. He noted that digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Innovation and Modern Infrastruc­ture can create opportuni­ties for businesses as well as contribute to improving public services and socio­economic life.

The Vice-President revealed that Myanmar is striving to improve digital development by applying modern technologies in the digital expertise, inno­vation, agriculture, industry, education, health and public management sectors.

He underlined that Myanmar is located in a strategic area in Asia and is important as an inland bridge to link India, China and the ASEAN market. Be­ing a member of the ASE­AN, Lancang-Mekong and BIMSTEC groups, Myan­mar can create opportuni­ties to boost regional trade and economic linkages.

Furthermore, the Vice-President highlighted that Myanmar is cooperat­ing with the international community in developing the agriculture and live­stock sectors for regional food security, as well as in the development of renew­able energy and electrici­ty, while capitalizing on its strategic location at the crossroads of the India-My­anmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, the ASEAN High­way Network, the East-West Economic Corridor and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

He recounted that President U Min Aung Hlaing has recently made official visits to several countries, including the Russian Federation, In­dia, China, Laos, Belarus, and Thailand, which not only strengthened existing friendly ties and positive mutual relations, but also enhanced practical coop­eration for mutual benefit.

The Vice-President highlighted that although Myanmar and Russia are geographically distant, the two countries maintain solid and close bilateral relations characterized by multi-sec­toral cooperation as well as mutual support in regional and international arenas. Myanmar stands ready to continue working closely with all regional and inter­national partners to foster greater connectivity and build a strong, comprehen­sively developed region.

Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin, Indonesian President Mr Prabowo Su­bianto, Mongolian Prime Minister Mr Uchral Nyam- Osor and Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China Mr Ding Xuexiang also delivered speeches.

The ceremony was also attended by diplomats, del­egates, business leaders, economists, and guests from the Russian Federa­tion and partner countries in attendance.

The Vice-President was accompanied by Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, dep­uty ministers, the Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation and officials. — MNA/TTA
