National workshop on agricultural development concludes

THE second day of the national workshop, titled “From Agricultural Devel­opment to National Pro­ductivity Growth”, contin­ued with sectoral paper presentations at Myanmar International Convention Centre I (MICC I) in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morn­ing.

The workshop aims to develop the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sec­tors, agro-based indus­tries, financial services, investment, access to tech­nology and export capacity in order to boost national production. During the morning sessions, panels led by Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue Daw Than Than Lin; Dep­uty Ministers Dr Ye Tint Tun and Dr Ye Tun Win of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation; Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya for of Industry and MSME Development; Dep­uty Minister U Min Min for Commerce; and UMFCCI President U Aye Win dis­cussed current measures and proposed reforms to increase national produc­tion in the agriculture, livestock and fisheries, in­dustry, planning, finance and investment, and ex­port sectors. They also answered questions from participants.

In the afternoon, a panel led by Union Minis­ter for Finance and Reve­nue Dr Kan Zaw, together with Union Ministers U Aung Kyaw Hoe, U Min Naung, U Myo Zaw Thein, Dr Charlie Than and U Tun Ohn, reviewed the sectoral papers presented at the workshop, answered ques­tions from the media and approved follow-up meas­ures for implementation. Dr Kan Zaw then delivered the concluding remarks and brought the national workshop to a close. — MNA/KZL
