Taunggyi inspects rural farm-to-market road construction
THE Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, conducted a field inspection yesterday to review the progress of a rural farm-to-market road construction in Naungpyit Village, Taunggyi Township, Shan State (South).
Taunggyi Township Department of Rural Development Head U Zaw Win and engineering staff inspected the construction of the four-furlong-long, 12-foot-wide farm-to-market road featuring a two-foot earth embankment and a nine-inch sand-gravel surface, with CBR measurements using the DCP method. He also met members of the village road construction committee and responsible officials from the tender-winning company, emphasizing the importance of completing the works on time within the designated period.
The road construction and related works are being implemented during the 2026-2027 financial year with K62 million in State-approved funds through cooperation between township department engineers and the tender-winning company. Upon completion, the project will enable local farmers to transport agricultural produce from their farmlands to markets at lower costs. — Cho Than Nyunt (Rural)
