5 dead, 14 injured in school bus accident in Nepal

Five people, including four school students, died after a school bus met with an accident in central Nepal's Pokhara on Friday morning, police said.

The bus, carrying 19 people, most of them schoolchildren, fell off a highway, resulting in the deaths and leaving others injured.

"The five were pronounced dead in a hospital. Fourteen others are receiving treatment," Birendra Paswan, spokesperson at the Kaski District Police Office, told Xinhua, adding that two of the injured are in serious condition.

The bus was carrying students from a local private school, along with the bus staff and the father of one of the students. The parent also died in the accident.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, Paswan said.
